Festive October events in Spencerport

Here is a list of festive Fall and Halloween events in the Spencerport area in October:

There’s a couple of walking events in the village of Spencerport in October. The 9th Annual Spirits of Spencerport Ghost Walk is happening on October 11th and 12th. A guide leads you through the village and you stop at different locations to hear spooky stories. You start at the Spencerport Depot and Canal Museum. For more information, go to www.ogdenhistoricalsociety.org. The information and getting tickets will be ready by September 12th.

There’s also the Town Trick or Treat on October 26th. This is where the parents and their children walk around the village to all the different stores and get candy.

There’s also an event outside of town on the same day as the Town Trick or Treat. Homesteads For Hope Community Farm is having their 5th Annual Trunk or Treat on October 26th. Decorated vehicles will be all throughout the farm and people will be giving out candy.

The Great Alphabet Hunt in the village

The Great Alphabet Hunt was a huge success this summer. Twenty-six businesses participated in this event where kids had to go around the village and find letters from the alphabet taped to windows of each of the twenty-six businesses. After they have found all twenty-six letters, they went to the Union Street Coffee House, handed in their sheet, and got a prize and a certificate. It's not often that big projects come to Spencerport

In August of 2022, I reported about development next to Walgreens. There was talk of building quite a few businesses on Nichols Street but they never got anywhere with that, and as of today, I haven’t heard much lately. In October of 2021, I reported about building apartments on Union Street across the way from Barefoot Landing Plaza but they never put anything up, and as of today, I haven’t heard much about this either. Big projects in Spencerport are not very common. Of course, there is the three story building in downtown Spencerport, and that is a significant project, and there was also the Amazon building on the outskirts of town, and that was significant too, but that’s been all the major developments in Spencerport recently. In 2017, Walgreens was built, and that was a big project, but beyond that, this has been all the major developments in the last ten years. Spencerport is very active with minor changes like new small businesses opening. It seems like every month a new business opens. As far as that goes, Spencerport is a busy town, but the major developments are less common.
